It’s Community Open Day this Saturday, Aug 25. The action kicks off at 10am with an Air Cadet parade followed by flag raising and a haka from local schools. Everyone’s welcome.
Things are realy humming now at HQ. For instance, here’s its lively ideas board.
Manager Megan Smith invited visitors to scribble topics on Post-it Notes describing the sort of classes and activities they’d like to see at HQ – such as te reo classes, dance and movement, tai chi, youth group, wine appreciation, meditation, chess, board games.
Already the building has hosted storytime sessions for kids, yoga, breathing, and dance classes and there’s plenty more coming up, including an adult drama class.
If you want to book a room there, you can do it through the Council’s bookings site.
Headquarters has its own Facebook page and you can wander in almost any time from Tues to Saturday to just sit a spell on one of the Baffin Lounge’s comfy couches, and enjoy free wireless, books and magazines.
