Initial work on putting in security cameras at key Hobsonville entry points was begun by the previous committee. HLC and the proposed security firm have worked with Auckland Transport to get necessary planning done and permissions granted, and cameras should be operational by midyear.
The HLC installation is expected to consist of three cameras on the corners of Buckley Ave and Squadron Drive, Hobsonville Point Rd and Hobsonville Road, and on Clark Rd. There’s an allowance in the HPRS budget for two or three more cameras if necessary.
Please note that the aim is to access video footage of comings and goings after trouble occurs, not provide close surveillance of homes and people. The cameras will be able to record vehicle plate numbers.
