We are thrilled to announce the three winners of the Habitat Hobsonville design a Logo Competition below:
The Overall Winner is Starr Harrison, aged 10 from Hobsonville Point Primary School with the simple silhouette of a bird. Starr wins $200 and a book Animals of Aotearoa.
“I tried for simple logo and related to the byline ‘bringing back the birdsong’. Colours could be easily changed. This was my idea, says Mum @Anna Harrison but my 10 year old son put it together for me.”
The most popular entry from a Hobsonville Point Secondary School student goes to Isobel Baxter who wins a book from epic Greta Thunberg entitled We are all Greta.
“I wanted to focus on the community and the bringing back of birdsong. I put the two different birds, a tui and a fantail, to represent the diversity of New Zealand culture and connecting different kinds of people together. The birds are singing because the goal of Habitat Hobsonville is to bring back birdsong and restore their natural habitat. The branch represents the branching out to family, friends and community.”
For the most popular entry from a Hobsonville Point Residents Society person goes to Amna Kashif who wins the book The Brilliance of Birds.
“The logo is very simple and bold. The petal symbol reflects the natural environment and the orange color shows the welcoming attributes of Hobsonville being an inclusive community. Blue and greens are showing sky/coastal life and the greenery we have around us respectively.” says Amna of her bright coloured design.“
Special thank you to Hobsonville Point Residents Society and to AV Jennings who sponsored the prizes. Thanks to Christine Glover and #habitathobsonville for organising the logo design competition and to Errol Haarhoff for selecting the finalists.
The entries have been a great source of inspiration for the Habitat Hobsonville Team and they wish to extend their thanks to all entrants, parents and teachers. Prize winners will be contacted with details of how to collect their prize. The overall logo may be developed into a final brand identify with a design agency.
